A Malaysia-focused system for checking claims in TikToks, posts, articles, and uploaded media.
Checkmate came out of ImagineHack 2025. Our team wanted to check the kind of content people actually pass around, instead of limiting fact-checking to a clean block of text.
What I made
I led the three-person team and worked on the architecture, AI integration, frontend, and API design. Checkmate can pull content from TikTok, X, and the web, transcribe media, extract individual claims, and check those claims against sources.
The result includes the evidence behind each check and a credibility record for the creator. We took second place at ImagineHack 2025, then reached the top 10 at AWS Malaysia's largest hackathon from a field of 1,700 participants.
How it works
5 stepsPaste a social link, article, or media file.
Fetch the content and transcribe speech when needed.
Separate checkable statements from the surrounding post.
Search for evidence and compare it with each claim.
Review the verdict, sources, and creator history.
